Description

This is a short workshop on how to design a foundation paper pieced block from a photograph. You can either use pen and paper or EQ8 software to create this. Other software may also be used using the same concept however it will not be covered in this workshop.

Supplies Required for Workshop

For hand drawn foundation:

  • Pencil and Paper (graph paper may be used but not necessary)
  • Printed photo - I suggest making a copy. Printing one from your computer makes it easy to reproduce if need be. Note: please abide by any copyright protections laws if you are using someone else's photo
  • Tracing paper
  • A scanner or copier to reproduce the foundations if making more than one of the same foundation - optional
  • Scraps of fabric to test your block

EQ8 drawn foundation:

  • Digital photo
  • EQ8 software (EQ7 can be used too however the layout may appear different than presented)
  • Paper and printer to print out templates
  • Scraps of fabric to test your block
