Description: Join our free online class to make a wonderful appliqued book cover. This class is one lesson and easy to make with full instruction to learn how to do machine blanket stitch. This book cover can be used to decorate any diary, birthday book, journal, note pad or address book and it makes a wonderful gift at Christmas time or for a birthday with a personal touch. Add an optional pocket and add a gift card if you like.

Class Requirements:
Note: see lesson for accurate measurements
ONE hard covered book (instructions show an 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" pad, but any size can be used)
1/3 yd main fabric
ONE fat eighth lining fabric
3" x 8" rectangle for inside pocket (optional)
approximately 9" x 12" rectangle of batting
scraps of fabric for applique and fusible webbing
machine embroidery thread to match applique fabrics
general quilting supplies such as rotary cutter, mat, rulers, scissors, pins etc

What is fusible webbing? Fusible Webbing is a glue type material which becomes tacky when heated. It is pressed to the back of your applique fabric which can then be heat stuck onto a background fabric adhering both sections together. Some common fusible webbing are Wonder Under, Vliesofix, Heat n Bond and Steam a seam. For applique you require a light weight fusible that can be easily stitched through.
